Snowshill in the north end of The Cotswolds near Stow On The Wold is a picturesque little village.
Having taken a couple of HDR photographs recently, I am posting this one as it is not HDR and shows what you can get when everything transpires to give you the right light at the right time. It was far too early in the day to have a properly exposed foreground along with a well exposed sky, but, the recent rain had stopped before the rainclouds cleared, giving the greatest opportunity to grab a shot of this church. And that’s what I did, I grabbed this shot hand-held in-between talking with the very pleasant elderly gentleman whose front law I was standing on in an attempt to get a little further back for the framing of this shot.
It was a shot captured at the right time. I wasn’t out with all my usual gear, I was just driving around with the missus and I got a few other shots from the village and the surrounding area.
I read afterward that Snowshill was the location used in the filming of Bridget Jones’s Diary with Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth. Filming took place in the centre of Snowshill including the village green and a local house featured as the home of Bridget’s parents. The house used in the film was owned by local residents John and Jill Hooper who met several members of the cast, including Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant.
Filming took over the whole village as they had to cover the entire place with artificial snow to portray the Christmas period when Bridget goes home to visit her parents.
The very same day gave completely different skies just minutes down the road where I stopped the car to grab this shot with a lovely small aperture to get everything in focus that I could.
