Churchill Village Classic Car Show

Churchill Village, at the northern edge of the Cotswolds, close to Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold, Daylesford and Kingham hosts a bi-annual Classic Car Show that has grown into something of an event on the classic car calendar.

Churchill Village Classic Car Show 2010The 2010 event was lucky enough to gauge the weather perfectly and attracted over 465 cars and over 3,000 paying visitors. This meant that the village was able to raise about £18,000 to distribute to its selected charities and local groups.

The classic styles of these cars, set on the village green of what is already a beautiful village in an area of outstanding natural beauty, give you the impression that it is 40 years earlier and they are all parked up for some glorious village fête.

Churchill Village Classic Car Show 2010Photography opportunities everywhere, I should have made more of this chance to take some shots of the village and the event. Truth be told, though, I had a raging hangover! I almost didn’t go to the event at all it was that bad. I did drag myself and my tripod along eventually, but it was later in the day, and honestly, my heart wasn’t in it. I knew it was an event that I didn’t want to miss, but I certainly wasn’t at my most creative.

Even in this condition, it would have been difficult not to get a good shot and I’m more than happy with some of the shots I picked up. They were all taken between visits to the tea-rooms and cake stalls.

All of this was surrounded by a fantastic village, nestled in luxurious green Cotswold countryside.

Other facilities in Churchill include The Forge Bed & Breakfast, The fabulous Chequers Inn (for whom I really should make a website) and historic details of The Old School and its teachers and pupils.
